A bedside vigil has begun for my Grandfather. His body is fighting without any medical intervention, at his wish. It is an amazingly complex thing to watch someone's body take charge in it's own fight to die. He has wanted to go for some time. He told us today that is all he wants right now and my dad told him that it is okay, he can go. The hospice doctor explained to us how his body will lose functioning and I can't believe how strong and depressed he must be to take this choice in hand. God is ready for him and we hope he is comfortable until the end. Use those strong hands in heaven, Grandpa. This world has worn them thin.
